Execution – You need to take down the enemies that ambush you and Fenris will ask you to go with him to find Hadriana. If you accept this quest but delay in going to see Hadriana, you will be ambushed again if Fenris is still in your party. If Fenris is not in your party and you take too long to get around to this quest, eventually pop up and confront you, resulting in him leaving the party. Taking too long to find Hadriana will also result in an increased rivalry with Fenris.
Carver suffers from most of the same problems Bethany does, but his equivalent to her Circle route is what gives him the upper hand.
Completing companion quests and increasing the relationship gauge to the 50% and 100% thresholds in either direction will unlock special mid-stage and final-stage companion conversations that serve to advance and formalize Hawke's relationship with their companions.

While Isabela is technically an optional companion in Dragon Age 2, her actions play a big part in the setup for the political turmoil happening in Kirkwall. When she's not there, her absence is felt, and when she is there, she makes sure everyone knows she's the star of the show.
The Hawke family saved her, which allowed her to be a selectable companion onwards. Her husband, however, was corrupted by the Darkspawn and died during their escape from Lothering.

Merrill's romance cutscene doesn’t queue until after her Questioning Beliefs quest. The Flirt option indicates that she is available, but she will be considered queued so long Campeón any Flirt option was taken beforehand, not necessarily this one. Note that Merrill is always last in the contact me queue, so Anders must be outright dumped before she will visit.
Some companions may pursue relationships with each other if not actively romanced by Hawke; if Hawke does not romance both Isabela and Fenris, or if their romance has already ended, they start a relationship with each other in Act 3.
Developing the relationship gauge to 100% in either direction will lock it in at that point, preventing contact me you from decreasing the gauge. At this stage, further relationship alterations are disabled and that companion will be completely dedicated to working with Hawke Triunfador either a friend or rival.
The lack of control over characters does have some benefits. Companions can continue contact me to have their own lives and paths in the world. They’ll have their own story arcs with different villains and characters spread throughout the game’s regions.
